The evaluation of the main achievements of Cohesion Policy programmes and projects over the longer term was conducted by an international project team, coordinated by the European Policies Research Centre (University of Strathclyde, Glasgow) and the London School of Economics. The case study shows how ERDF funding helped structural changes in North Rhine-Westphalia and especially the Ruhr area since 1988. It also becomes clear that regional policy was adjusted.
